About us

Our Amazing Team

The Stateline Disc Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) founded in effort to grow and cultivate disc golf in our community. Our goal is to improve our parks with course design that is accessible to all skill levels.

By bringing exciting tournaments and events to our community, we hope to increase player participation and volunteerism across the Stateline.

I was bitten by the disc golf bug fifteen years ago at the tender age of fifty and it quickly became my sport/hobby /obsession of choice. This love affair quickly led me to become involved in the local disc golf community, working with local communities to grow, maintain, design and develop courses in the Rockford, IL area and finally the need to take disc golf growth to the next level, Stateline Disc Golf Association (501-3c) filled that need.

Disc Golf has provided a lot of food for my mind, body and soul since I started in the 90s.  Running leagues, events, teaching students, course design and maintenance are passions of mine. Traveling to play new courses is one of my favorite things to do and when you add the comradery and competition with friends, it’s good food.

I found disc golf while coming back from injury from another sport back in 2019. What was supposed to initially be for mobility, turned into passion and disc golfer #182927. Obsessed, I dove into competition and eventually started volunteering at Durand, Anna Page, Woodlands, and Porter Park (my home course). I love being creative so I found an appetite for course design and the overall growth of the sport in our community. That need for community growth led to the formation of the Stateline Disc Golf Association in an attempt to make viable growth happen by players, for players.

I’m both a veteran and somewhat of a newbie.
I first experienced disc golf in 1979, and played a few times into the early 1980’s. After high school disc golf became just a fond memory.
That is until 2018 when a local businessman donated funds for a disc golf course, essentially in my backyard.
From that point forward I’ve been hooked!
From playing leagues and tournaments to hosting leagues and tournaments, from volunteering at local courses to designing and installing courses, from patronizing local pro-shops to starting a disc golf pro-shop, disc golf has truly become my passion. I’m excited to be an ambassador for the sport!

I first picked up disc golf in 2001, and played sporadically for the next couple decades. In 2021, I began playing more consistently and started volunteering at Porter Park. We began the Stateline Disc Golf Association in 2023 in an effort to focus our attention on courses throughout the Northern Illiniois and Southern Wisconsin area. I’m enthusiastic about the growth of the parks and I’m excited to see how far we can go.
